Welcome, my name is Ricardo. I'm a designer and artisan of stand up paddles utilizing wood, paracord, fiberglass, graphics and epoxy. The goal is to build the lightest recreational performance paddle possible unique to its owner.
In 2013 I began building my own SUP's purely for the joy and satisfaction. I discovered a market gap for light weight wood SUP's. 11 years and 150+ paddles later the passion hasn't waned. My 82" paulownia paddle weighs 20.7 oz.;
shorter paddles weigh even less !
I use the acronyms TSUP (Traditional), ASUP (Alternative) and CSUP (Custom) Stand Up Paddle to describe designs.
TSUP is a typical design of T-handle on top, blade on the bottom.
ASUP is a non-typical design. It has an integrated T-handle/blade on top as well as a blade on the bottom.
I designed the ASUP to increase paddling enjoyment. The result is both ends of the paddle are symmetrical for use when seated or kneeling yet no sacrifice in traditional design performance is experienced when standing. Paddlers of varying skill levels have used it and are resolute in their positive reviews.

Paulownia and Western Red Cedar are my go to woods. The left paddle above is made of paulownia highlighted with walnut. Hardwoods add strength and beauty.

It's a minimal flex round hollow hemlock shaft/basswood blade (excellent for racing and speed); at 82" long - it weighs 23 oz.!
